How track days work

New to this? A track day (HPDE โ€” High Performance Driver Education) is a non-competitive event where you bring your own car to a closed circuit for lapping. Beginners get an instructor in the car. No racing โ€” just learning your car at speed, safely.

Step 1

Pick an event

Filter by region and date. Beginner-friendly formats like SCCA Track Night start around $99โ€“$149.

Step 2

Gear & tech

You'll need a Snell-rated helmet and a basic tech inspection. Many clubs loan helmets your first time.

Step 3

Run groups

Grouped by experience. Novices run with an instructor, lead-follow, no passing. You move up as you progress.
